For the first five years of her life Vivienne lived in seclusion with a nanny until her parents were convinced that she was not a Squib like their first two children Robert and Louisa (deceased).

Once she showed signs of being a witch she was brought back to the family home and her parents began her education.

She originally had no intention of competing in the Tri-Wizard Tournament but her longtime friend Edmund insisted that since he was too ill to participate that she go in his place.
